Friday Night Flicks: Lotte Reiniger

March is Women’s History Month in the USA, so it seems appropriate to have a look at the work of the earliest female stop motion animator. Lotte Reiniger was an animation pioneer, and her contribution to the field is recognized in the first of today’s flicks.

The second flick for today is really a five minute advertisement directed by Reiniger, with a score by Benjamin Britten. I won’t say for who as it might spoil the ending.

If you have an hour to spare this weekend, you might want to spend it watching Reiniger’s  feature animation, Prince Achmed.

About Byopia Press

I have been working in the book arts field for more than twenty years, and operating Byopia Press with my husband David since the late 1990s. I began producing artist's books and altered books in 2004.
