Friday Night Flicks: Bookbinding

Friday Night Flicks hasn’t featured a bookbinding video for a while. This video, filmed, edited, and directed by Amin Safaripour, is a lovely portrait of a skilled bookbinder at work. The binder has obviously been at his job for a while: I held my breathe when he glued the boards to the leather without measuring the hinge spacing.

Perhaps you will be inspired to undertake some insanely ambitious bookbinding this weekend.

About Byopia Press

I have been working in the book arts field for more than twenty years, and operating Byopia Press with my husband David since the late 1990s. I began producing artist's books and altered books in 2004.

I would like to know if you are able to make a book out of my poetry? How much you charge per copy? They would be gifts for my family. I live in Southern California so I am not sure also how much extra for shipping costs but I have been searching for a way to put them in a book and I would love it to be authentically made.

      Hi Amanda,

I don’t do that kind of custom binding work. Try checking on the internet for binders in your area. I am sure you can find a binder in California to do the job. Failing that, there are on-line companies that do some nice work.
      Good luck with the project!
