At a time when algorithms are being used to determine everything from what kind of news people get to how people convicted of a criminal offense will be sentenced, the general public needs to understand what an algorithm is and how it works. This short animated video offers Cathy O’Neil’s clear and simple explanation to those of us who are not mathematicians.
