Sometimes My Life is a Little Too Fluxus

Although the title of today’s post could apply to me, it is actually a quotation from Elizabeth Kotz, and the title of a collaborative work assembled by Amy Spencer via Instagram. I wrote a bit about my contribution here. Participants received a copy of the completed work in return for their contribution. Mine came this week.

The little case (approximately  30 x 19 x 11.5 cm/11.5 x 7.5 x 4.5 in.) holds a collection of works by seven artists on the theme of “busy-ness”.

The pocket in the lid of the case holds several flat pieces: the title ‘page’ with the list of contributing artists, two quotations, an original collaged print by Uwi Moore,

and a lovely bit of letterpress printing by Casey Gardner/Set in Motion Press.

In one of the little plastic boxes from the body of the case, there is an accordion book by Melissa Schnaible. She has chosen a most appropriate paper for the covers.

Lee-Anne Penner (the other Canadian contributor) made a codex with an exposed spine binding where the cover almost outshines the contents of the pages. A variation on an Exquisite Corpse structure, the flaps of the cover may be arranged to produce nine different ‘titles’.

The contents of the pages are copies of original collages showing people being busy.

Amy Spencer, the originator of the project, has created several pieces.  First, Eat Your Fruits and Vegetables.

Burn Your List.

Amy’s third work is also in a plastic case: Ducks in a Row.

I will post the rest of the work, including all of my Decision Maker, next week.

The carrying case is entirely too cute! Any leads of where one might get one or two? Thank you.
