Friday Night Flicks: Great Wall by Shirley Sharoff

The flicks for August will all show artists’ books. I selected The Great Wall by Shirley Sharoff to start as I thought the structure* fit with the theme of this month’s Instagram challenge: #AreYouBookEnough_Winding.

The flick doesn’t really give you a detailed look at The Great Wall, so I suggest you take part of your weekend to read a piece by Robert Bolick on the work —Learning to read Shirley Sharoff’s “La grande muraille”. His post includes both still images of the work, and video clips of the structure in action.

*The structure of The Great Wall is similar, but not identical to Hedi Kyle’s Telescoping Ziggurat.
