Friday Night Flicks: Letterpress Amsterdam

This short film by David Bickerstaff

… observes the process of traditional letterpress printing in a small studio in Amsterdam run by the graphic designer, typographer and master printer Thomas Gravemaker.

Although I keep reading that letterpress printing is ‘dead’, it seems to be expanding in popularity. Many places now offer classes. Perhaps you can sign up for a letterpress workshop this weekend. (Apply some barrier cream to your hands before you go.)

About Byopia Press

I have been working in the book arts field for more than thirty years, and operating Byopia Press with my husband David since the late 1990s. I began producing artist's books and altered books in 2004. I also create prints and drawings that are frequently text-inspired or text-based.
