As I mentioned yesterday, I folded mash notes for other girls when I was in Grade Nine. I soon got bored with the simple fold I was using and started experimenting. Here are a couple of the early variations.
These notes can’t be sent through the mail as they are too small, but they are suitable for tucking into gifts or lunches or being used for mash notes. Just a small warning: if you are a fourteen year old girl and the lockers in your school do not have vents so you have to slide this into a boy’s locker through the gap around the edge, these will be too thick. Stick with one of the folds I showed yesterday.
The Lift (Outer Tuck) Fold:
With the paper long way up, fold the bottom edge up about 2.5 cm (1″). (If you want to make your note a bit smaller and have a sturdier edge to tuck the point under, fold the bottom over again by the same amount.) Turn the paper over and fold the sides in to the middle, then fold the upper corners down and to the middle. Your paper should look like this.
Fold the top point down.
Lift the top point and fold the bottom edge up to the top fold.
Tuck the point under. (You can pre-fold the point, then tuck.)
Draw an arrow and write “Lift” as shown in the picture at the beginning of the post.
The Pull Fold (Centred):
Fold the bottom edge up about 2.5 cm (1′), fold the sides in to the middle, then fold the top corners down and to the middle.
Turn your paper over and fold the top point down.
Turn your paper over again and make a second fold so that the point just touches the second fold line.
Fold the bottom edge up to about 1.25 cm (1/2″) below the point. Tuck the upper part with the point into the pocket in the lower section.
Draw an arrow and write “Pull” as shown at the beginning of the post. For a variation, you can fold the bottom edge up less, leaving room to write “Pull” right on the point itself.
